Frequently asked questions
Each campground reservation comes with the following:
Tent platform
Place to park in the main lot
Fire pit
Option for gear rentals & private composting toilet rentals
Access to centrally located compost toilets (they’re as cute as can be, I promise!)
With so many RV campgrounds around, we want to offer tent campers a place too! We will not have water or electric hookups. We might accept RVs, schoolies, vans, trailers, campers, etc. on a case-by-case basis, so please reach out if you have a question: hello@rayofsunshinecamping.com
Q: What does Ray of Sunshine Camping & Glamping offer at the glampsites?
A: We offer two glamping experiences in Western Pennsylvania, cottages and cabins. Think of a cottage as a covered bed. Think of a cabin as a tiny house.
Ray of Sunshine Cottages are perfect for 1-2 people who want the camping experience but with a little added comfort at night. Each cottage comes with the following:
Bed
Small shelter to simulate a tent
Place to park in the main lot
Fire pit
A private off-grid outhouse with a composting toilet (they’re as cute as can be, I promise!)
Option for gear rentals
Ray of Sunshine Cabins are great for 1-4 people who want a few more amenities and privacy.
Each cabin comes with the following:
Two stories
Microwave
Bed with an additional bed and/or a trundle bed
Place to park in the main lot
Fire pit
A private off-grid outhouse with a composting toilet (they’re as cute as can be, I promise!)
Option for gear rentals
With so many RV campgrounds around, tent camping & glamping is our focus.
People who want to sleep in their cars can park in the main lot, or they can rent gear from us. We want to keep the woods and field as untouched as possible. Vehicles would distrub them too much.
We might accept RVs, schoolies, vans, trailers, campers, etc. on a case-by-case basis, so please reach out if you have a question: hello@rayofsunshinecamping.com We will not have water or electric hookups.
Bathroom Each camper will have access to our centrally located compost toilets. Because there is a creek and spring located on the farm, we ask that you use the toilets for solid waste.
Cabins will have private outhouses. People who are tent camping or renting a glamping cottage will have the opportunity to rent a private bathroom shelter if they don't want to use the centrally-located ones available.
Trash We encourage campers to practice "Leave No Trace" principles. We would rather have back-up options than litter though. There will be a centrally located trash bin. Leave No Trace:
Plan Ahead and Prepare
Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces
Durable surfaces include maintained trails and designated campsites, rock, gravel, sand, dry grasses or snow.
Protect riparian areas by camping at least 200 feet from lakes and streams.
Good campsites are found, not made. Altering a site is not necessary.
In popular areas:
Concentrate use on existing trails and campsites.
Walk single file in the middle of the trail, even when wet or muddy.
Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent.
In pristine areas:
Disperse use to prevent the creation of campsites and trails.
Avoid places where impacts are just beginning.
Dispose of Waste Properly
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite, food preparation areas, and rest areas for trash or spilled foods. Pack out all trash, leftover food and litter.
Utilize toilet facilities whenever possible. Otherwise, deposit solid human waste in catholes dug 6 to 8 inches deep, at least 200 feet from water, camp and trails. Cover and disguise the cathole when finished.
Pack out toilet paper and hygiene products.
To wash yourself or your dishes, carry water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and use small amounts of biodegradable soap. Scatter strained dishwater.

Water for Showers, Drinking, and Cleaning We are currently fundraising to put a water well on that section of the farm. PLEASE DO NOT dump waste, wash your hands, or clean campware in the creek. This is part of the farm’s natural water source.
We have gallons of water to purchase if you need.
There will be off-grid hand washing stations.
Oh, yes! Totally! That's hopefully implied by the "amping" part of "glamping." We are not a luxury stay, 5-star hotel, or resort. Though we try our hardest to bug-proof and critter-proof the cabins, cottages, and campsites, we're simply guests in their woods. If you stay here and don't encounter a bug or critter, let us know. In that case, something would be very wrong. (Please do not touch the critters, and try to move the bugs outside if you can.)
You can find that here.
We aim to be open in summer of 2026 with a regular season of May 1 - November 30. We might be able to open the cottages for all Fall and Winter Holidays through Valentine’s Day. If you have a special request, please don't be shy! Reach out to hello@rayofsunshinecamping.com
Similar to Pennsylvania State Parks, Ray of Sunshine Camping & Glamping loves and welcomes pets on a leash or in a kennel. You can bring pets to all tent campsites and the LuLu Cabin. Pets are not allowed in any of our other rentals without exception. We appreciate your understanding. Campers must register their pets and name them on the reservation.
Pets can NEVER be left alone inside your rental or tent. You must be present with your pet at all times. Dogs left alone can try to chew their way through the tent fabric (even trying to get to their owners who are just outside the rental), causing damage or vet bills that the guest is responsible for.
Dogs must remain leashed at all times when in public space (Yes, even our farm dog Millie when she's at the campground.) Our leash rule applies at your campsite, lounging at the fire ring, hiking a trail, walking to get something from the car, etc.
Should fundraising go as expected, we would love to have an enclosed dog area. Visit our donate page if this is something you're excited about.
Additionally, please clean up your pet's waste and dispose of it properly (in bags, in the trash cans). Guests will have a $30 fee for uncleaned pet waste.
Nope! We are located right on a country road. Ray of Sunshine Camping & Glamping aims to give you a natural feel with limited barriers, including what kind of car you have.
All cars will stay in the main parking lot to preserve the landscape. Motorized vehicles including four-wheelers, side-by-sides, and dirt bikes, and e-bikes are not allowed on our trails to protect hikers, pets, and plants. (Kat started solo camping in her 2014 Chevy Spark, and it was one of her biggest barriers trying to get to cool spots in Arizona and out west.)
Maybe, but in a capacity where we're working! We want this to be the camping experience that you want, which likely includes time to be with nature.
Rick and Kat are not going to hang out at your campsite, force small talk, or be 3rd and 4th wheels. We are working on routine maintenance, new projects, fixing equipment, or facilitating workshops. If you see us, feel free to say "hi" or start a conversation though!
Kat will also offer 1:1 set-up support for new campers, women, and marginalized groups as a camping add-on.
