Ray of Sunshine Camping & Glamping is a grassroots LLC that offers community-based activities, a safe space, and workshops. We are not a nonprofit. Kat has worked as a teacher and as a communications director for a nonprofit. She has seen how devastating it can be to rely on the government for funding, which has been shown to decrease funding in the arts, education, and nature preservation.
Critical funding is cut on purpose.
Instead of classifying as a nonprofit and relying on governmental funding, we count on community. Friends, family, neighbors, collaborators, artists, makers, and supporters make this dream possible (and a whole lot of small-business loans, personal savings, and credit cards.)
Yes, it might take 10 people to contribute as much as a grant, but that shows the power of the collective-- Of standing together and supporting people who support others.
